The Aquaculture Toolbox was developed as part of the European Union H2020 funded Tools for Assessment and Planning of Aquaculture Sustainability (TAPAS) project. TAPAS was a four year project which aimed to investigate the bottlenecks to aquaculture licensing and suggest improved approaches to support transparent and efficient licensing, supported by cost-effective management tools and practices.

The toolbox is at 'stage 1' in its development and the developers are open to proposals on further adapt and enhance the platform for use by stakeholders. This may be through individual contributions to the tools or by developing the Aquaculture Toolbox as a whole.
